The Lorain County History Center

Explore the fascinating stories of Lorain County's past in the graceful rooms of the Horace Starr House, home to the Lorain County History Center. The Starr House, a large brick Italianate-style mansion, was completed in 1857. It is the oldest remaining residential property on Elyria's Washington Avenue. Along with its accompanying carriage house, the Starr House is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

The Lorain County History Center contains seven galleries, a research library, administrative offices, and a gift shop. Two floors of the facility are open to the public, with ADA accessibility.

History Center hours are Tuesday through Friday 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Admission is $5 per adult and ages 13 to 18, $3.00 and children 6 to 12, $2.00 (Children under six and LCHS Members are free). Group tours of 10 or more are welcomed and are $4 per adult. Please call (440) 322-3341 to schedule a tour.
