The Hickories Museum

Daily Tours

The Lorain County Historical Society is pleased to share The Hickories, the mansion built by Elyria entrepreneur Arthur Garford for his family, with the public. The residence, constructed 1894 to 1896, combines Richardsonian Romanesque and Shingle-style architecture. The interior features Tiffany-style windows, six fireplaces, carved faces and a private chapel. French and Gothic styles are apparent in the oak, mahogany and cherry woodwork.

Visitors can enjoy guided tours of The Hickories on Wednesdays and Fridays at 1:00 and 2:30 p.m. and the first and third Saturdays of the month at 1:00 p.m.  Other tour times may be available by appointment. Contact the LCHS office at (440) 322-3341.

Admission: Adults $5; Children (ages 13-18) $3; Children (ages 6-12) $2; Children under six and LCHS Members are free.
